
As the threats to our Nation grow darker with each passing day, it is becoming apparent that a strongly unified opposition is our last, best hope to thwart the forces that are actively seeking its destruction.
One of America’s greatest strengths has always been our willingness to set aside our superficial differences and unite against a common threat.
From our founding struggle against an insane and oppressive monarch 250 years ago, through the bitter fight against fascism in the 1940’s, the continuing struggle for Civil Rights, and the Cold War victory over totalitarian dictators in the 1980’s and –90’s, Americans of all stripes and political persuasions have resoundingly re-affirmed their dedication to the lofty ideals enshrined in the Declaration of Independence:
“… that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness – That to secure these Rights, Governments are instituted among Men, deriving their just Powers from the Consent of the Governed.”
And codified in the preamble to the Constitution:
“We the People of the United States, in order to form a more perfect Union, establish Justice, insure domestic Tranquility, provide for the common defence, promote the general Welfare, and secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our Posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.”
Our commitment to these ideals (despite our admittedly spotty adherence to them over the years) has resulted in the most successful system of government the World has ever known.
This stands in stark contrast to the bleak, dystopian vision of Humanity’s future espoused by Trump, his sycophantic enablers, and ALL who would crush our spirit for their own benefit. By their ferocious attacks on our system of government and its institutions, the extremists currently in power are clearly demonstrating their visceral opposition to the ideals upon which the Nation was founded.
If you truly believe that the ideals upon which our country was founded and under which untold millions of Americans (both natural born and immigrants) have prospered for 250 years are basically flawed and that America itself is a failed country, then you are right to embrace and join forces with the dark forces calling for its destruction.
If you believe, as I do, that those ideals are both the core of our Nation’s strength and the truest source of our prolonged success, then I encourage and implore you to join in the struggle against those who would divide and destroy us.
